IPTV App Keeps Crashing — Real Fixes
An IPTV app that keeps crashing, freezing or refusing to load is frustrating — especially when you are trying to watch live sports or a film. Most crashing issues have straightforward causes and equally straightforward fixes. Work through the solutions below in order; most users resolve the problem within the first three steps.
Problem 1: The App Crashes Immediately on Opening
Most likely cause: Corrupted app data or an outdated app version.
Fix: Go to your device settings and clear the app's cache and data. On Android: Settings → Apps → [App Name] → Storage → Clear Cache. On Firestick: Settings → Applications → Manage Installed Applications → [App Name] → Clear Cache & Clear Data. After clearing, restart the app. If that does not help, uninstall and reinstall the app completely.
Problem 2: Constant Buffering During Playback
Most likely cause: Insufficient internet speed or Wi-Fi signal interference.
Fix: Test your internet speed using a speed test tool. For HD playback you need at least 15 Mbps; for 4K, 40 Mbps is recommended. If your speed is adequate but buffering persists, try connecting your device via an Ethernet cable instead of Wi-Fi. Also try switching to a different DNS server (such as 1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8) in your router or device network settings.
Problem 3: Channels Load Slowly or Time Out
Most likely cause: Server-side congestion or an outdated playlist.
Fix: Refresh your M3U playlist in the app settings. In TiviMate, go to Settings → Playlists → Refresh. In BOB Player, re-add your playlist with the original M3U URL. If the issue persists across many channels simultaneously, contact IPTV Ruya support via WhatsApp — occasional server maintenance may be the cause.
Problem 4: The EPG Guide Is Missing or Blank
Most likely cause: EPG URL not configured or EPG data not yet loaded.
Fix: In your IPTV app settings, locate the EPG or programme guide section and ensure the EPG URL provided in your IPTV Ruya credentials is entered correctly. EPG data typically takes a few minutes to load after adding the URL. Forcing an EPG refresh within the app also helps.
Problem 5: App Works on Phone but Not on TV or Firestick
Most likely cause: Insufficient device RAM or storage on the TV/Firestick.
Fix: Older Firestick models and entry-level Smart TVs sometimes struggle with RAM-intensive IPTV apps. Try closing all background apps before launching your IPTV player. On Firestick, go to Settings → Applications → Manage Installed Applications and force-stop any apps you are not using. Also check that your Firestick has at least 500MB of free storage.
Problem 6: Picture Freezes But Audio Continues
Most likely cause: Hardware acceleration issue or codec mismatch in the video player.
Fix: In your IPTV app player settings, disable hardware acceleration. In TiviMate, go to Settings → Player → Hardware Acceleration and toggle it off. Alternatively, switch the video decoder from HW to SW (software). This forces the app to use software decoding, which is more compatible with unusual video streams.
Problem 7: App Crashes After a Specific Duration (e.g. 30 Minutes)
Most likely cause: The device is overheating or entering a power-saving mode.
Fix: Ensure your Firestick or TV box has adequate ventilation — do not place it in an enclosed cabinet. Disable any sleep timer or screen saver that might interrupt playback. On Android boxes, check battery optimisation settings and exclude your IPTV app from automatic battery management so it is not suspended after a period of inactivity.
